SCHOLAR MUTANT is a hand-painted evolution of the MARCEL Scholar, created by Marcel Katz as a mutation of the original silhouette. The work draws from underground comic culture, radioactive color, mutant imagery and the Saturday-morning visual language of the 1990s.

Each piece begins with the architectural Scholar frame, sculpted from Italian acetate and handcrafted in Modena, Italy. Marcel Katz then individually paints, alters and finishes every frame by hand. Variations in color, texture, brushwork and finish are intentional, making each numbered work visually distinct within the edition.

The standard edition consists of 11 numbered works, with one Épreuve d’Artiste / Artist Proof retained separately within the Marcel Katz studio archive. Each work is individually numbered, registered within the Maison Marcel archive and accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.

Every order includes the frame, a leather case, a Maison Marcel presentation box, an outer protective box, a microfiber cloth, authenticity card, certificate of provenance, and the printed care booklet.

A care booklet is included with every order. Clean the lenses with the provided microfiber cloth. Store your frame in its leather case when not in use. Keep it away from heat, alcohol-based products, and salt water. Treat it as you would a collectible object.

Each frame begins with Italian cellulose acetate, shaped and polished by hand in Modena. Artisans refine every line until the form feels inevitable. Precision replaces speed, and every gesture preserves intention.
