SCHOLAR PIANO BLACK presents the Scholar silhouette in its purest form. Sculpted from deep black Italian cellulose acetate, its rounded architectural profile is defined by substantial lines, softened geometry and carefully balanced proportions.

The frame remains constant across three ZEISS gradient lens studies, each creating a distinct interpretation of the object.

AMBER GRADIENT introduces warmth and depth, recalling late afternoon light and archival photography.

GRAY GRADIENT offers the most restrained interpretation, balancing the sculptural weight of the frame with a quiet, neutral tone.

LIGHT BLUE GRADIENT creates a cooler, more atmospheric perspective inspired by open skies, distant horizons and reflected light.

Designed in Miami and handcrafted in Fiorano Modenese, Italy, each frame is shaped, assembled and polished by Italian artisans. Final detailing and finishing are personally completed by Marcel Katz, creating subtle differences between individual objects within the edition.

Each lens study is limited to 20 pieces worldwide. The complete SCHOLAR PIANO BLACK work consists of 60 frames across the three lens treatments.

Each object is presented with a leather carrying case, Maison Marcel presentation box, protective outer box, microfiber cloth, authenticity card, certificate of provenance and printed care booklet.

Artisan Note

Every frame is shaped and finished by hand. Subtle differences in surface, color and detailing are signatures of the artisan process. These variations are not imperfections. They are evidence of the human craftsmanship behind each individual object.

Please allow up to four weeks for delivery. Each frame is individually inspected, authenticated and prepared in its collector packaging before dispatch.

Every order includes the frame, a leather case, a Maison Marcel presentation box, an outer protective box, a microfiber cloth, authenticity card, certificate of provenance, and the printed care booklet.

A care booklet is included with every order. Clean the lenses with the provided microfiber cloth. Store your frame in its leather case when not in use. Keep it away from heat, alcohol-based products, and salt water. Treat it as you would a collectible object.

Each frame begins with Italian cellulose acetate, shaped and polished by hand in Modena. Artisans refine every line until the form feels inevitable. Precision replaces speed, and every gesture preserves intention.
