Description

C’est Trop Tard Pour Recommencer is the French sister piece to Oops I Did It Again, carrying the same emotional statement through a different cultural lens. The phrase translates to “It’s too late to start over,” turning the painting into a blunt confession, a warning, and a final decision all at once....

The gold surface gives the work a sense of luxury and permanence, while the aggressive black brushwork feels like an attempted erasure. The words fight their way through the darkness, almost like they were scratched, shouted, or discovered underneath the damage. In French, the phrase becomes more cinematic and fatalistic, making the piece feel especially connected to Cannes, film, memory, and consequence.

This work is about the moment after the mistake, when the option to begin again disappears and the only thing left is to continue forward. It is raw, imperfect, direct, and honest, transforming damage into language and language into an artifact.
